The full United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit has refused to review the Eleventh Circuit panel’s earlier July 29, 2014, decision upholding the $67 million jury verdict against TD Bank for its participation in Scott Rothstein’s $1.2 billion Ponzi scheme – the largest Ponzi scheme in Florida history and among the largest ever in the United States.
Jason B. Savitz was a member of the litigation and trial team that tried the case before a Miami federal jury that returned a verdict awarding $67 million in compensatory and punitive damages to the defrauded investor group.
The case was the first and only case to be tried against Rothstein and TD Bank. After obtaining the landmark verdict – among the top 40 largest verdicts in the United States in 2012 – TD Bank reached settlements with other defrauded investors.
