The United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit has published its opinion affirming a federal jury’s $67 million verdict against TD Bank for its participation in Scott Rothstein’s $1.2 billion Ponzi scheme – the largest Ponzi scheme in Florida history and among the largest ever in the United States.
Jason B. Savitz was a member of the litigation and trial team that tried the case before a Miami federal jury that returned a verdict awarding $67 million in compensatory and punitive damages to a defrauded investor.
The case was the first and only case to be tried against Rothstein and TD Bank. After obtaining the landmark verdict – among the top 40 largest jury verdicts in 2012 – TD Bank reached settlements with other defrauded investors.
